As herbal medicine becomes increasingly important today, one of the primary goals of our Department is to provide prospective pharmacists with a thorough understanding of plants used as pharmaceutical raw materials. Our Department's research interests include the identification of medicinal, poisonous, and beneficial plants, their anatomical and morphological characteristics, and their distribution areas; drugs derived from medicinal plants and their effects and active compounds; the biological activities of medicinal plants; morphological and microscopic analysis of herbal drugs; and the study of Turkey's rich flora and the deep-rooted ethnobotanical knowledge that has developed in parallel with this flora.
In order to carry out the education and training activities of our department, there is one 40-person student laboratory, 33 light microscopes and one stereo microscope for common use.
