Pharmaceutical Botany
PHARMACEUTICAL BOTANY DEPARTMENT
It is one of the primary goals of our department that pharmacist candidates to recognize closely and to know the plants used as pharmaceutical raw materials nowadays, where herbal treatment is gaining importance. Determination of medicinal, toxic and beneficial plants, their anatomical and morphological features with distribution areas; drugs derived from medicinal plants, their effects and effective compounds; biological activities of medicinal plants; morphological and microscopic analysis of herbal drugs; the rich flora of Turkey and investigation of the deep-rooted ethnobotanical knowledge that develops in parallel with this flora are among the research areas of our department.
