Introduction

The Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology, located in the Department of Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy, investigates the structure and properties of microorganisms that cause human disease and the microbiological methods used in the diagnosis of these diseases. Pharmaceutical microbiology also focuses on the development and efficacy of various antimicrobial and microbial-based products, the production of new-generation vaccines and hormones, antibiotics, and vitamins, microbiological quality control of pharmaceutical preparations and cosmetics, and basic and clinical research on bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infectious agents.

Our department aims to train graduates who have a good grasp of the basic concepts of Pharmaceutical Microbiology, a multidisciplinary sub-branch of microbiology, and who can use this knowledge effectively in every aspect of their profession.
